FORMER Zimbabwe Cricket captain Brendan Taylor has expressed his admiration for Takashinga Cricket Club, the team he has chosen to join after serving his ICC ban.
Taylor was banned for three and a half years for breaching the ICC’s anti-corruption code. He is set to make a return to Zimbabwean cricket after his ICC ban officially ends on Friday.
Taylor has praised the club’s rich legacy and commitment to excellence.
“Having long admired the club’s rich legacy, commitment to excellence, and its nurturing of some of the country’s finest cricket talent, I am eager to contribute my skills and passion for the game in such an esteemed environment,” Taylor said in a letter to the club.
The top order batsman and wicketkeeper highlighted his values that align with the club’s ethos.
“Throughout my cricketing journey, I have strived to uphold the values of discipline, teamwork, and dedication, qualities that I believe resonate strongly with Takashinga’s ethos,” he added.
“I am confident that being part of your club will not only allow me to further develop my abilities but also give me the opportunity to give back to the cricketing community that shaped me.”
Taylor expressed his enthusiasm to join the club, saying, “I would be truly honoured if given the opportunity to represent Takashinga Cricket Club.”
Takashinga Cricket Club Chairperson Blessing Ngondo warmly welcomed Brendan Taylor to the club, describing the 39-year-old’s decision to join as a privilege.
“We are both honoured and excited to welcome you into the Takashinga family. Your reputation as a seasoned international cricketer, with years of experience at the highest level, precedes you. It is therefore a privilege for our club to now count on you among its players,” Ngondo said.
“We’re confident that your presence will bring significant value not only through your performances on the field but also through your mentorship and influence off it.”
