TAKASHINGA Patriots 2 turned on the magic blowing away hapless Amakhosi for a measly 71 runs all out before running eight-wicket victors in a one-sided National Premier League match played at Kwekwe Sports Club on Thursday.
Daichi Nyandoro took over the reins in the absence of skipper Knowledge Kaia and won the toss, choosing to field first.
Seamer Faraz Akram made the breakthrough by getting Amakhosi opener, Bright Phiri caught by Rodney Mupfudza for two runs off six balls on the last ball of the first over.
Mgcini Dube, named player of the match struck with his first ball coming from the opposite end getting Vitalis Buwu caught by Tanunurwa Makoni for a golden duck.
He was back again with his second wicket of the match, this time getting Amakhosi’s top scorer, Tamsanqa Nunu caught by Takudzwa Chataira for a 14-ball 13 runs on the penultimate ball of the sixth over.
With three wickets down for 23 runs after 5.5 overs, Takashinga kept attacking relentlessly culminating in Akram’s second wicket on the second ball of the seventh over. He caught Raymond Kasimo behind by wicketkeeper Tinashe Chimbambo for a two-ball duck. This left Amakhosi further exposed on 24/4.
Skipper, Nyandoro joined in the fun taking his two wickets for four runs from three overs. At the same time, pacer Trevor Gwandu also claimed two scalps with Cuthbert Musoko and Chataira taking one apiece to bowl out Amakhosi for 71 runs in 21.1 overs.
Determined to finish the match early, Takashinga 2 went about their run chase like a house on fire. The game was over in 12.4 overs, Takashinga 2 reaching 72/2, Mupfudza (32) and Chimbambo (10) unbeaten, Makoni (5) and Nyandoro (18) were the only casualties.
