TAKASHINGA Cricket Club will host a crucial encounter on Sunday as Takashinga 2, takes on the unbeaten SOGO Rangers in the sixth game of the Harare Cricket Association (HMCA) Vigne Cup 1st League.
The Highfield-based outfit, Takashinga 2, will be seeking their second win of the league, while the current log leaders, SOGO Rangers, aim to solidify their position at the top.
After a sluggish start to their campaign, Takashinga 2 has struggled to find their footing in the league, with three losses and one win against Old Hararians 1 a fortnight ago. Their game against Uprising Cricket Club was abandoned.
Currently sitting in fifth position in the eight-team league, Takashinga 2 will be looking to tame their opponents and climb up the ladder.
The hosts will rely heavily on the services of all-rounder Daichi Nyandoro with both bat and ball. Bowlers Marshall Takodza and Shelton Mazvitorera, both fresh from a 3-wicket haul against Chitungwiza-based Gladiators, will be looking to pick up wickets and dismantle the SOGO batting attack.
Ryan Simbi, the youthful spin bowler, is also expected to pick up some wickets in the upcoming match encounter.
SOGO Rangers, have been imperious in their campaign, remaining unbeaten after five games but Takashinga 2 boast a strong batting lineup, with Baxton Gopito and Tinashe Chimbambo enjoying a respectable strike rate and will be seeking to add significant runs to the tally.
This will be the first encounter between Takashinga 2 and SOGO Rangers in the HMCA Vigne 1st League and the hosts will be eager to cause an upset.
