AS the National Premier League (NPL) season kicks into high gear, Takashinga Patriots 2 will be looking to build on their opening-round victory when they take on Amakhosi at the Kwekwe Sports Club on Thursday (tomorrow).
Takashinga 2, riding high on confidence from their victorious season opener, are eager to secure a second consecutive win under the interim captaincy of Daichi Nyondoro.
Takashinga 2’s substantive skipper, Knowledge Kaia, emphasised the importance of capitalising on early-season fixtures to accumulate crucial points.
“It’s always good to start with a win,” Kaia remarked.
“With the intense level of competition in this year’s league, you would always want to get as many points in the bag as possible in these early stages and then grind out results in tougher assignments as the league progresses.”
Kaia, who will sit out this encounter due to work commitments, has entrusted the captaincy duties to his deputy, Nyandoro.
The Captain expressed confidence in his deputy’s ability to lead the team seamlessly.
“Daryl has done it before, so we are not thinking of any negative impact a single change would have,” Kaia noted.
“Amakhosi are a good side; there are no small teams anymore in the NPL, and we are treating them with the respect they deserve.”
Takashinga 2 outfit will be looking to replicate their impressive performance from the opening round when they take the field.
Kaia expressed confidence in his team’s preparation, stating, “We had an afternoon session this afternoon, and the guys are good and raring to go, taking up from where they left last weekend.”
Both teams have shown their mettle and with early points up for grabs, the encounter at Kwekwe Sports Club promises to be an exciting contest.
