Takashinga 1 make light work of OH

TAKASHINGA 1 romped to an eight-wicket win in their Vigne Cup clash against Old Hararians at Takashinga Cricket Club in Highfield on Saturday.

The visitors were bundled out for a measly 146 all out inside 29.5 overs after being put in to bat first.

John Masara was instrumental with the ball for Takashinga 1 taking three wickets for 26 runs from six overs. He got able support from Trymore Mangwiro and his captain Roy Kaia both who chipped in with two wickets apiece.

However, the host lost opener Tinashe Kamunhukamwe early in their chase, caught for six runs by Tawanda Maposa off Alex Falao after 1.4 overs. In came Innocent Kaia who steadied the innings together with Tafadzwa Mahachi before the Zimbabwe international was caught by Tariro Mukanyo off the bowling of Suhail Vayani.

Kaia’s departure on 45, five runs shy of a half century left Takashinga 1 on 75 for the loss of two wickets after 13.4 overs.

This was the last wicket to fall for Boys Dzangu as Mahachi and Samuel Muyambo took the team over the line unbeaten on 48 off 53 and 34 off 27 balls respectively.

For Old Hararians, Huzefa Ali top scored with 68 off 68 balls comprising eight fours and a six before being caught by Mahachi of Musara’s bowling.

On May Day on Friday, Takashinga 1 beat Uprising by six wickets. Takaz 1 restricted Uprising to 118/10 in 26.5 overs before reaching 119/4 in 23.3 overs.
