Tanunurwa Makoni continued his impressive form with an unbeaten 140 as he forged a formidable 230-run fourth-wicket partnership with Will Fraine (142*) to put Tuskers in a strong position against Eagles at Harare Sports Club.
The talented Makoni, who already has a career-best score of 185* earlier this month, struck 19 boundaries in his commanding innings. His partnership with Fraine helped Tuskers recover from early trouble to reach 328/3 at stumps, trailing Eagles by just 15 runs after the hosts had declared on 512/8.
Makoni’s recent batting prowess has been remarkable, with this century following his previous substantial innings. The right-handed batsman showcased excellent technique and temperament against an Eagles attack that had initially made inroads through Alex Falao, who claimed three early wickets.
Meanwhile, at Mutare Sports Club, Mountaineers established a 126-run lead with eight wickets remaining against Rhinos, as Ben Curran’s century of 116 highlighted the Rhinos’ first innings total of 321.
Both matches enter their final day today.
