Kamunhukamwe scores career best First Class Score

EAGLES batsman Tinashe Kamunhukamwe produced a career‑best 175 runs as the Harare-based side built a 221‑run lead over Mountaineers on day two of the first‑class match at Harare Sports Club on Saturday.

The innings, which lasted 245 balls, included 20 fours and three sixes and lifted the home side to 334/7 at stumps.

Mountaineers, who lost the toss and were thrown in to bat, were dismissed for 113 in 43.5 overs on Friday. Eagles responded cautiously, ending day one on 115/3 after 33 overs. On Saturday the Harare side accelerated, adding 219 runs on the board to move to 334/7.

Kamunhukamwe, who opens the bat for Takashinga Patriots, reached his fourth first‑class hundred, surpassing his previous best of 159. He shared a 122‑run partnership for the sixth wicket with captain Faraz Akram, who finished on 52, and added a further 65 with Alex Falao for the seventh wicket. The innings was finally halted when Kamunhukamwe was caught behind by wicket‑keeper Spencer Magodo off the bowling of Definite Mawadzi.

Earlier in the match, fellow Eagles opener Kudzai Maunze struck a half‑century on Friday, while bowler Tanaka Chivanga claimed three wickets for the Eagles. The score leaves the Eagles with a comfortable cushion and the chance to push for an outright win on the two remaining days, where they will aim to bowl Mountaineers out twice.
