TAKASHINGA Patriots 1 outclassed Alex Sports Club by 7 wickets in a National Premier League match played at Old Hararians Sports Club on Thursday.
Alex were put in to bat first and posted 208/10 in 43.3 overs. Zubair Khan top-scored with 57 off 39 balls, while Aliakbar Hamid added 37 off 56 balls. Graeme Cremer and Antum Naqvi were the pick of the Takashinga bowlers, claiming three wickets each. Samuel Muyambo picked two while Munashe Chipara and Kundai Matigimu grabbed a wicket each.
In response, Takashinga Patriots 1 chased down the target with ease, thanks to a match-winning knock from in-form batsman Innocent Kaia, who scored 90* off 112 balls. Innocent’s innings was marked by precision and control, as he played some beautiful shots and left deliveries with ease. Antum Naqvi also contributed with a quickfire 45 off 38 balls, helping Takashinga to build a strong partnership.
Takashinga’s batting display was well coordinated, as they lost only three wickets in 39.4 overs. Tafadzwa Tsiga scored 29,opener Joylord Gumbie added 25 while Muyambo remained unbeaten on eight as the team closed the rubicon easily. Alex bowlers Nazim Patel, Sood Ali and Hamid settled for a wicket each.
