MARSHALL Takodza produced a fine all round performance to guide Takashinga Patriots 2 to a 54-run win over Amakhosi 2 in their fourth match of the 2025 National Premier League played at Kwekwe Sports Club on Thursday.
Sent in to bat after losing the toss, Patriots 2 built their innings around Takodza’s unbeaten 67.
The middle order batter anchored the innings and shared a valuable 55-run stand with Tanyaradzwa Kagumba, who weighed in with 10 runs. Opener Kupakwashe Muradzi scored 20, while fellow opener Tino Chiwara chipped in with 34.
Captain Baxon Gopito and Brandon Senzere each added 16 before the innings closed at 207 all out in 42.3 overs.
Amakhosi captain Cedric Dube led from the front with the ball, claiming three for 25, while Luyanda Mtomba supported well with two for 37.
Defending a modest target, Patriots 2 struck early. Daichi Nyandoro removed opener Vitalis Buwu for eight in the fourth over, and Kagumba followed by trapping Brandon Ndiweni for a duck. Amakhosi never found the momentum needed to chase down the target as wickets fell steadily.
Ashley Phiri provided some resistance with 47, and Mtomba added 37, but both fell before they could push the game deep.
Takodza capped his day with the ball by taking three for 28, matched by Simbarashe Mudzengerere’s three for 34. Kagumba took two wickets, with Nyandoro and Shelton Mazvitorera picking up one each, as Amakhosi were bowled out for 153 in 36.4 overs.
