RESURGENT Takashinga 2 are set to host log leaders, Gladiators Cricket Club in a Vigne Cup League match at Takashinga Cricket Club on Saturday.

Takashinga 2, who have had a mixed season, bank on their balanced squad to perform in all departments.

The Highfied based team have played 10 matches with five wins and four losses so far in the Harare Metropolitan Cricket Association First League. Their recent victories over SOGO Rangers and Old Hararians showed their potential to upset the top teams, and will be looking to build on that momentum. Takashinga 2 are also congnisant of the fact that their senior team Takashinga 1 lost to the same opposition last weekend and will be looking to attone for their brother’s defeat.

Boys Dzangu will be relying on the services of their star all-rounder, Wishnenzy “Madzibaba” Chapfombo, who took four wickets for 17 runs and also contributed 30 runs for his team in the last match against Old Hararians.

The team’s other top bowlers Tanyaradzwa Kagumba, Takudzwa Chataira, Ryan Simbi and Shelton Mazvitorera, have shown they can deliver when needed and are expected to be on top of their game come Saturday.

Simbarashe Mudzengerere, Kupakwashe Muradzi and Kagumba have been pivotal with the bat and their aggression on the crease will put pressure on the opposition bowlers.

The Chitungwiza-based Gladiators on the other hand come into this match riding high after their recent victory over Takashinga 1, eight wins from 10 matches, and a net run rate of 2.273 and the only blemish on their record is the defeat to second-placed SOGO Rangers.

Gladiators will be keen to maintain their position at the top of the table while Takashinga 2 will be aiming to overcome the league leaders and close the gap on the log table.
